Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is competing in his first Pro Bowl after his first NFL season. Before he even attempts a pass, Hall-of-Fame quarterback and AFC Pro Bowl coach Peyton Manning told ESPN’s Pat McAfee that he believes Stroud will win MVP of the weekend’s events.

Stroud tore up the regular season for the Texans, leading Houston to the AFC South title and a wild card win. He finished the year with 21 passing touchdowns and just five interceptions on almost 4,000 passing yards and replaced Mahomes in the Pro Bowl field. Stroud was the third Texans player to make the Pro Bowl, joining veteran offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and fellow rookie Will Anderson Jr.
The Texans rookie showed off his skills early in the Games’ events, too. He scored 26 points in the first round of the precision passing challenge to lead the field.
