Peyton Manning continuing to help groom Broncos QB Drew Lock

Peyton Manning may be retired but he can still have a big impact in the Broncos’ locker room. The two-time Super Bowl champion has been helping groom young quarterback Drew Lock, who went 4-1 as a starter in 2019.

Manning went on 104.3 The Fan last week to talk with Brandon Stokley and Zach Bye and his work with Lock was brought up.

“Drew and I have talked about — he was kind of asking for my thoughts on the offseason,” Manning said. “Kind of how I went about my offseason training and when do you start throwing, weight lifting and all that.

“So I sort of put my thoughts together and we were set to talk [last week] but he had his wisdom teeth taken out, so kind of delayed that. So I don’t know if that’s breaking news that he had his wisdom teeth taken out, so there you have it. Don’t say I didn’t give you any scoops.”

Manning said he planned to have a conversation with Lock once he recovered from the surgery. That talk has likely happened by now.

“I’ve enjoyed keeping up with Drew since he’s been here,” Manning said. “Try to be there as a resource . . . I try to be there like I would for any quarterback who has a question. If I can help him, I’m certainly happy to try.”
