Perhaps Kyle Brandt inspired Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger hit on a deep shot early against Denver. Perhaps Kyle Brandy played a part.

Sunday began with Kyle Brandt of the NFL Network channeling his inner Mickey Goodwill and, in a segment for CBS heavy with imagery from Rocky, Brandt played the role of a corner man trying to inspire Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Perhaps the veteran quarterback drew some inspiration from the segment.

With questions swirling about Roethlisberger, his arm and his longevity, the grizzled QB hit on a deep shot early against the Denver Broncos, silencing for a moment his harshest critics:

Roethlisberger entered play on Sunday having completed 64.1% of his passes for 1,033 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions, along with a QBR of just 36.6, ranking him 29th in the league. But this deep shot to Diontae Johnson, with Roethlisberger getting the football downfield in the vertical passing game, might be the kind of play that could turn his season around.

Perhaps Brandt did his job in the corner.

Here is the segment for those who missed it this morning:
