Per ESPN, Texas A&M’s star guards join an elite scoring group after defeating No. 6 Tennessee

Texas A&M guards Wade Taylor IV and Tyrece Radford combined for 52 points in the win over No. 6 Tennessee, joining an elite scoring group.

Texas A&M (15-8, 6-4 SEC) outrighted earned what many consider to be its most significant win of the season after defeating No. 6 Tennessee inside a packed Reed Arena, obliterating the visitors 85-69 on Saturday night.

Earning their 5th Quad 1 win on the year, head coach Buzz Williams knows that performances like this are only possible due to the scoring production from star guards Wade Taylor IV (25 points) and Tyrece Radford (27 points), who combined for 52 points, and 7 of the A&M’s 11 makes from beyond the arc.

While Taylor recorded his 9th 20-plus point game of the season, Radford now has six of his own, including 65 points in his last three games, all A&M victories. The formula is clear and according to ESPN Stats & Info, after Saturday’s elite performance, Taylor and Radford are just the third pair of teammates in 25 years to both record at least 25 points and 5 assists against a Top 10 ranked opponent.

While it may be too much to ask for this type of collective performance night after night, both players have been lights out since A&M’s home loss to Ole Miss just two weeks ago. With more Quad 1 opportunities left on the schedule, the Aggies’ NCAA Tournament chances will continue to rise.
