Penn State’s season-opening opponent opens spring football practices

Around the B1G: Penn State’s season-opening opponent opens spring football practices.

Penn State’s spring football practices may still be a few weeks away from getting started, but Penn State’s first opponent of the 2022 season opened its spring practice schedule on Monday.

The Purdue Boilermakers, who are coming off a surprisingly good season that may have flown under your radar last season, began spring football practices in West Lafayette, where Penn State will open its 2022 season under the lights.

I took some time to break down five storylines to follow during Purdue’s spring football practices for Athlon Sports this week. In brief, the Boilermakers return their starting quarterback (Aidan O’Connell) but will be spending some time this spring attempting to find its next big-play receiver after David Bell left for the NFL. Purdue also has big shoes to fill on the defensive line with the NFL departure of expected first-round draft pick George Karlaftis.

You can read my full breakdown of five key storylines for the Boilermakers over on Athlon Sports. Of course, be sure to also check out my five questions for the Penn State offense this spring as well.

Penn State opens the 2022 college football season at Purdue in Week 1 on Thursday, Sept. 1. Kickoff time will be confirmed at a later date.
