Penn State’s next opponent lost at home to FCS school from Pennsylvania

Penn State’s next opponent lost to an FCS school in Week 2 and visits Tennessee in Week 3.

It was not exactly a pretty afternoon for Penn State despite picking up a win over Bowling Green. But it was an even uglier afternoon for Penn State’s next opponent.

Penn State is heading into a bye week in Week 3 but will return to action in Week 4 with a home game against Kent State, another school from the MAC. The expectation is that game will be a bit easier for the Nittany Lions than the Week 2 matchup with Bowling Green. That is because the Golden Flashes fell to 0-2 on Saturday after losing at home to St. Francis, an FCS program from Loretto, Pennsylvania.

St. Francis recorded its first win in program history over an FBS school, the first in four tries for the program. St. Francis went just 4-6 in 2023 and has had just one winning season since 2017, so it is not exactly as if Kent State fell victim to one of the top-tier programs from the FCS ranks.

Kent State lost its season opener at Pitt and now will prepare for back-to-back road games at Tennessee in Week 3 and at Penn State in Week 4.

It should be a long couple of weeks for Kent State. Expect Penn State to be a massive favorite at home in two weeks.
