We are just a few weeks into the season and Penn State has climbed up the rankings in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 leading into Saturday’s game against the Indiana Hoosiers.
We are still continuing to see them build for their future as well. Let’s take a look at a few players to keep an eye on for Penn State recruits.
The first one is a four-star offensive tackle from the 2023 class in Payton Kirkland.

He has narrowed down his list of schools, which includes Penn State. Adding him would be a nice boost to the Nittany Lions 2023 recruiting class, especially since they have already started to add offensive lineman for that class.
Kirkland has 54 total offers across the NCAA. He is a mountain of a man, standing at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds. He is a player that has the potential to make a lot of noise at the college level.
The next player to watch is another 2023 recruit in Sonny Styles. He is a five-star athlete who ranks number three in his class.

Throughout his high school career, Styles has created chaos on the defensive side of the ball. He plays with tons of aggression and grit, which fits really well with what Penn State has historically recruited. Meaning, they are players who can back up their talk with their performance on the field.
Penn State has a strong recruiting class in 2023 thus far. Kirkland and Styles are two intriguing players to keep an eye on, as both have become popular names for the Nittany Lions recruiting watch list.
