Penn State opened the doors to Beaver Stadium for a limited number of fans to check out what had been advertised as the final spring football practice of the season. But on Friday, Penn State announced an additional spring football practice will be held in Beaver Stadium next Friday as well. And as the classic infomercials say on TV, but wait! There’s more!
After Saturday’s spring football practice, Penn State head coach James Franklin confirmed the program will actually conduct three additional practices, including the one announced on Friday. Penn State will hold practices on Monday and Wednesday of next week. The previously announced practice is set to be a Friday night event, although the exact details of how the Friday practice will unfold have not been officially announced.
How Penn State modified its originally planned schedule to account for three additional practices next week is unconfirmed. What is confirmed, however, is the Friday practice will be open to senior students at Penn State.
Penn State announced senior students will get one last chance to enjoy Beaver Stadium in a football atmosphere for the actual final practice of the spring. Only first-year students were allowed to attend Penn State’s spring practice on Saturday, giving them their first taste of the football life inside the football stadium. Seniors will get their swan song under the lights. It may not be a raucous white-out crowd against Ohio State, but that may not matter. Franklin said the spring practice crowd this weekend felt like 75,000 despite only about 7,500 fans being in the socially distanced stands.
