Alabama’s massive win over Georgia generated quite some shuffling in the latest polls. The Crimson Tide is now the No. 2 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the No. 1 overall team in the new AP Poll. Penn State moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest coaches poll and the updated AP Poll after a big win against a ranked Illinois squad.
Paul Myerberg’s updated 1-134 power rankings of every FBS program had a few changes in the top 10 but remained relatively steady across the top 25 teams. Penn State held steady at No. 7 while Alabama and Georgia flipped 1st and 5th. Oregon did leap Penn State to No. 6, making the Nittany Lions the third-highest-ranked Big Ten.
Indiana is one of the week’s biggest risers, climbing 20 places into the No. 25 after its first 5-0 start in 1967. Another big riser is former Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz’s Duke squad. The Blue Devils are 5-0 after beating archrival North Carolina and now rank No. 28 in Myerberg’s rankings.
