Penn State was sitting at home this weekend to rest up for the second half of the regular season. While at home, Georgia scored the win of the weekend with its road win against Texas, handing the previously top-ranked Longhorns their first loss of the season. Despite not having a loss on its record, Penn State was passed over by the Bulldogs in this week’s updated AP Top 25.
Penn State was also jumped by Georgia in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Penn State remained no. 3 in the coaches poll to maintain its position in the other major poll out of the bye week.
New Big Ten member Oregon took over the top spot in this week’s AP poll, receiving 59 first–place votes. Georgia received the two remaining first-place votes this week as they pushed ahead of Penn State in the voting.
In addition to Penn State and Oregon, the Big Ten is represented in this week’s AP Top 25 by Ohio State (no. 4), Indiana (no. 13), and Illinois (no. 20). Nebraska, who was blown out by Indiana this weekend, received one point in this week’s poll.
Penn State will visit Wisconsin this Saturday night when they return to the field.
