The votes are in and there is a new team sitting atop the Big Ten according to the latest AP Top 25. Penn State has moved up two spots in this week’s AP Top 25, jumping the Iowa Hawkeyes and taking advantage of a sluggish performance by the Oklahoma Sooners to ascend to No. 4 in the Week 4 AP Top 25.
Penn State’s 38-17 victory over Villanova may not have been the most pristine game by the Nittany Lions, but a three-touchdown victory over the Wildcats coming on the same day both Iowa and Oklahoma had their own struggles at home was apparently enough to warrant picking up enough votes to move up into the fourth spot of the AP Top 25 this week.

This is the highest the Nittany Lions have been ranked in the AP Top 25 since reaching No. 2 in the 2017 season.
Alabama remains the clear No. 1 in the Ap Top 25 with 58 first-place votes. Georgia is comfortable at No. 2 with four first-place votes. The Oregon Ducks are the only other team ranked ahead of Penn State this week. The Ducks had a brief scare at home against winless Arizona in Week 4 but the Ducks continue to hang their hat on a road win at Ohio State and a non-conference victory over a rising Fresno State team (Fresno State is up to No. 18 in the AP Top 25).
