Penn State might be known for their linebackers, but the defensive backs that have come through the program in recent years are making names for themselves as well.
With Kalen King being the headliner of this year’s team, it looks like Penn State will have to find the next great defensive back to follow what King, [autotag]Joey Porter Jr.[/autotag], [autotag]Jaquon Brisker[/autotag] and others have created.
The 2024 recruiting class is already littered with cornerbacks. They have three commits, all ranked three-stars or higher according to 247Sports. Even though these players are already committed to Penn State, that isn’t stopping [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and defensive coordinator [autotag]Manny Diaz[/autotag] from trying to get as much talent into the program as possible.
On Wednesday, 2024 four-star cornerback Terhyon Nichols cut his list of schools down to six with Penn State making the cut.
The five other schools who made his list are Michigan, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Pittsburgh.

Nichols is a 5’10” 166 pound prospect from Cincinnati, OH. On3’s industry rankings have him as a four-star recruit, while Rivals and 247Sports have him rated as a three-star prospect.
He’s a dynamic athlete with the ball in his hands and handles punt return duties for his high school team. As a cornerback, he lines up on the outside and is primarily put into man coverage situations to lock up his assignment.
Nichols doesn’t feel rushed to make a commitment about where he’ll play his college football.
He told On3, “Iโm kind of the middle right now with my recruitment. I wouldnโt say I am still a ways away from a decision, but I wouldnโt say Iโm too close either. I want to get that feeling. Thatโs important to me to make the decision, so I look forward to getting out to these official visits.”
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Kentucky as the favorites to land Nichols with a 27.7% chance. Michigan is second with 19.5% and Penn State is third with 16.7%.
Nichols is scheduled to take an official visit to Penn State on June 16th.
