Penn State hosting 4-Star edge rusher for official visit this week

Penn State is hosting a major recruiting target this week

After a big recruiting weekend where Penn State hosted some of their top uncommitted targets and players who have already committed to the program, there is no time to sit back and relax.

[autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his coaching staff had to pivot immediately into recruiting mode again in the middle of the week after 2024 four-star edge rusher, Brian Robinson, moved up his official visit date.

Originally, the visit was set for the weekend of June 16th, however, Robinson moved the date to June 13th.

This could be advantageous for Penn State as they seemingly are facing an uphill battle in trying to land a commitment from Robinson. He’s coming off an official visit to Kentucky on June 9th and seems to be leaning that way.

With the middle of the week visit, the coaching staff will be able to give all their attention to the recruitment of Robinson as he begins his 48 hour visit to State College.

Robinson is a 6’5″ 228 pound pass rushing prospect from the state of Ohio. He is a consensus four-star prospect by the major recruiting services and is ranked as high as the 58th best player in the country according to ESPN.

On3’s industry rankings takes the average of the four major recruiting services and gives players their rankings. According to that, Robinson is sixth best edge rusher in the country and the 144th best player in the class of 2024.

He is one of the top targets for Penn State and will have 48 hours to make their pitch on why he should become a Nittany Lion.

This isn’t the first trip to State College for Robinson. He visited the campus in January and March of 2023 and also was at the White Out game last season.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine thinks that coach Franklin and his staff will have a lot of convincing to do during the official visit. Penn State currently is given the third best odds to land the four-star with a 2.2% chance. Kentucky is first at 56.0% and Michigan sits second with a 36.5% chance.

Robinson doesn’t have an official date set when he will commit to a college, but has suggested that he’s getting closer to his decision. He currently has no official visits scheduled after his trip to Penn State.
