Penn State football is 19 weeks away

Before you know it, Penn State football will be back for the 2021 college football season.

Penn State football put the finishing touches on its spring practice schedule Friday night in Beaver Stadium in front of fans and James Franklin has explained what happens next for the program going into the summer.

But as far as fans are concerned, the countdown to the return of Penn State football is now, officially, on. And for those keeping track, Penn State is set to open the 2021 season on Sept. 4 at Wisconsin in a Big Ten road challenge in a mere 133 days, or 19 Saturdays from right now.

Penn State Nittany Lions 2021 Football Schedule

Penn State will face some difficult challenges in the 2021 season including road trips to Wisconsin and Iowa in cross-division play and the annual matchup with Ohio State, which will be played in Columbus this season. Penn State also welcomes Auburn into Happy Valley for the first regular-season meeting between the two programs, and Penn State will look for revenge against Indiana and Maryland this year.

The Nittany Lions welcome a new offensive coordinator in Mike Yurcich, who comes back to Pennsylvania after most recently working at Texas. He will do so with a third-year starting quarterback in Sean Clifford and one of the Big Ten’s top wide receivers, Jahan Dotson.

As James Franklin noted after the final spring practice of the year, there is a lot of work still to be done for the quarterback situation and for the entire program between now and the start of August, when Penn State will come together for fall camp leading up to the start of the 2021 season.

We are not here to rush you through your summer, but Penn State football will truly be here before you know it.
