Penn State has steadily been moving up in the national rankings all season long and taking advantage of a chaotic season as teams continued to take losses along the way. With Ohio State getting upset by Michigan this weekend, Penn State pounced on the opportunity. Penn State clinched a spot in the Big Ten championship game and moved up one more spot in the national rankings.
Penn State moved up to no. 3 in this week’s AP Top 25 as they prepare to play for the Big Ten championship this week against Orgeon. Oregon continues to be the top-ranked team in the AP Top 25 as the only undefeated team in the FBS this season.
This is the highest ranking in the AP Top 25 for Penn State since reaching no. 2 in the 2017 season. This is also the first time Penn State has entered December with a ranking as high as no. 3 since doing so at the end of the 2008 season.
