For the eighth time in program history, Penn State women’s volleyball is an NCAA national champion. Days after taking down Big Ten rival Nebraska in the semifinals, the Penn State women’s volleyball team topped Louisville 3-1 to clinch its first national title since 2014, and it was a historic one as well.
Coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley became the first woman in NCAA history to guide a team to an NCAA volleyball championship. Jess Mruzik was named the NCAA tournament’s most outstanding player after helping overpower Louisville on Louisville’s home court at the KFC Yum! Center on Sunday afternoon.
Here are a few photos from the on-court celebration.
