Much of the transfer portal activity in Happy Valley has focused on players potentially leaving Penn State this offseason, but James Franklin and the Nittany Lions are setting up to add a second receiver from the transfer portal. Jake Spencer, previously of Colgate, announced earlier this week he intends to transfer to Penn State.
Spencer, who spent two seasons at Colgate, has appeared in just two games for the Colgate Raiders. The Pennsylvania native will have three years of eligibility at his disposal with the Nittany Lions. As noted by Lions 247, Spencer will join the program as a non-scholarship walk-on.

Spencer is the second wide receiver Penn State has added from the transfer portal this offseason. He joins Mitchell Tinsley as a newcomer to the program. Tinsley transferred from Western Kentucky and is expected to be a potential starter sliding right into the offensive mix. Spencer would clearly be a deep reserve option with a possible special teams role, at least for now.
