Penn State continues their high level recruiting for the class of 2024. They currently have 24 players committed to them in the class and are ranked fifth in the nation according to 247Sports.
With three wide receiver commits in the class, they are in contention to land another one on Friday.
Four-star Jonathan Paylor is set to announce his decision at his high school Friday evening. The 5’9″ 170-pound receiver is set to choose between his final five schools consisting of NC State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, and Penn State.
According to On3, Penn State is a massive longshot to land the consensus four-star prospect. Their Recruiting Prediction Machine doesn’t have the Nittany Lions listed despite making his final five.
Paylor himself says he could still choose Penn State.
He told Ethan McDowell of On3’s The Wolfpacker, “It’s still between the top five. Right now, all schools are still top contenders. All schools are still up there, but, right now, what helps me is the family decision, what program fits me the most and what offense would I fit in.”
The RPM has NC State as the massive favorite to land the North Carolina native. The Wolfpack sits at a huge 93.8% chance to get a commitment from Paylor.
NC State has hosted Paylor the most times out of any program with 11 total visits. He has not visited Penn State in an official or unofficial capacity a single time.
He’s a big-time wide receiver recruit who remains uncommitted that Penn State would love to have. On3’s industry rankings have him as the 28th-best receiver in the class and the number 169th overall player.
However, it doesn’t seem like the Nittany Lions are going to get a commitment from Paylor on Friday.
