If you took a poll of 100 college football fans who have preordered College Football 25, at least 95 of them would say that of the available game modes, they will play Dynasty or Road to Glory first. EA Sports is trying to change that and funnel more players toward College Ultimate Team, which has shown to be a moneymaker for the studio through other games like Madden and FIFA.
The studio announced on Tuesday that with a preorder of the game’s deluxe edition, players will be able to choose one of 10 “Ultimate Alumni” to build their ultimate teams around, and among them is Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
While the mode will certainly not be the most popular among the game’s rabid fanbase, Washington fans who didn’t get to experience the joy of playing with last season’s Husky roster that made it all the way to the national championship game might be able to rebuild it through Ultimate Team.
The inclusion of Penix, the No. 8 overall pick in the NFL draft suggests that other Husky legends of years past, and more specifically members of the 2023 team like wide receiver Rome Odunze, could also be available to add at a later date. While it shouldn’t deter fans from Dynasty and Road to Glory, Penix’s appearance should be a nice bit of nostalgia for anyone who decides to build their own ultimate team.
