Penei Sewell talks possibility of joining Joe Burrow, Bengals

Sewell could serve as an upgrade on the Bengals offensive line.

It’s no secret the Cincinnati Bengals offensive line struggled to protect former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow last year.

Burrow had been sacked a total of 32 times by the time he was sidelined in November after he sustained a severe left knee injury against the Washington Football Team.

With that, in addition to bringing on more playmakers, improving the offensive line will be a top priority for the Bengals this offseason.

One player the team could add in the 2021 NFL Draft is Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell, one of the best linemen in this year’s class.

Sewell recently joined the “Rich Eisen Show” and spoke on what it would mean to him to be selected by Cincinnati.

“Whatever it is, if the Bengals pick me, just know that I’m going to give my all, my heart, my soul to that organization and to help Joe Burrow keep clean as much as possible,” he said.

As of now, it looks like the Bengals’ first pick of the draft could very well come down to Sewell or former LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

It will be interesting to see what the Bengals do when they’re on the clock for the first time Thursday with the No. 8 overall pick.
