Pelicans-Lakers recap: Ingram scores 36 in New Orleans rout

The impending trade deadline and the lack of their two superstars was a toxic mix for the Lakers on Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped their third straight game on Tuesday night as they lost to the New Orleans Pelicans, 128-111. Brandon Ingram had 36 points to lead the Pelicans to victory, but he wasn’t the only one on New Orleans to have a great night as their whole team dominated a banged-up Lakers squad.

In addition to being without superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the remaining Lakers are also dealing with the impending prospect of the NBA trade deadline on March 25. The Lakers played pretty well offensively on Tuesday, but it was the defense where they simply did not have it as the Pelicans were able to feat inside without the Lakers two best players.

The Lakers get to come home now, but things won’t get much easier in the immediate future. LeBron James is still expected to miss several weeks and the same goes for his co-star Anthony Davis.
