Critical losses to Houston and Milwaukee in the last week for the New Orleans Pelicans paired with a continually surging Grizzlies squad have them back to six games back of the playoff race. Thursday’s match-up with Chicago offers them a chance to get back on the winning track
The Bulls, who the Pelicans downed 123-108 in early January, continue to sport one of the worst offenses and an above-average defense. Chicago ranks 29th in offensive rating and 10th in defensive rating. Zach LaVine carries a large burden of the offense, averaging 24.9 points per game.
With Lauri Markkanen out injured for the foreseeable future, the burden on LaVine only grows.
As for the Pelicans, after initial worries of a toe injury that could sideline Zion Williamson for the contest, New Orleans enters the game at full strength sans Kenrich Williams. With a host of games against contending teams and fellow sides battling for the playoffs coming up, Thursday will be close to a must-win to keep postseason hopes alive.
