In a recent turn of events, Boston Celtics reserve guard Payton Pritchard has found himself in a situation he yearned for not that long ago — but in an unexpected way. Last season, Pritchard was pushing for a trade to a team where he could secure more playing time.
However, just weeks ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season, the West Linn native is looking at more playing time with the same franchise that drafted him, thanks to a trade orchestrated by team president Brad Stevens that sent veteran floor general Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal to acquire Kristaps Porzingis. This trade has opened up the playing time Pritchard had been seeking, and he couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity.
The hosts of the “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast recently took some time to talk about Pritchard’s role with the Celtics next season.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they had to say.
