PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers big man Paul Reed went viral on Monday morning when he had a quote regarding Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis.
Reed was giving his keys to defending Davis and called him a “big flopper.”. Reed was referring to him not getting fair whistles at times from the officials and how Davis is a star player. Due to the general nature of stars getting calls in this league, Reed knew he had to be careful when guarding Davis.
After the Sixers destroyed the Lakers on Monday, 138-94, Reed addressed the quote he did not expect to go viral.
“I didn’t expect it to go viral,” Reed said after the win. “I was just keeping it 50×2.”

Reed acknowledged he should have chosen his words more carefully, and he will do so in the future.
“I must’ve said the wrong thing,” Reed continued. “I must’ve said something wrong. Next time, I’ll word it differently.”
Regardless, Monday was a very good performance from him, and he did do a good job of defending Davis in their limited matchups. The confidence Reed exudes is obvious.
“I’m a competitor,” he said afterward. “I feel like I’m one of the better players on the court every time I step on the court. It comes from the work I put in every day. The weight room, on the court, even off the court, studying film, all that work goes into my confidence.”
