Paul Pierce’s LeBron James hate tour is just the gift that keeps on giving, y’all.
Earlier this week, Pierce said that James wasn’t a top five player ever in NBA history which, uh, alright. I guess? I’m not sure how one doesn’t consider eight straight trips to the NBA Finals and three championships including one against a 73-9 team a top 5 resume, but whatever.
He wasn’t done, though. Nope. In fact, he’s doubling down in discounting James’ last decade in the NBA. In his latest appearance on ESPN’s NBA Countdown show, Pierce said that James and the Miami Heat underachieved during his stint with the team after going .500 in the Finals over four years.
Paul Pierce says the Miami Heat underachieved in the Big 3 era
“They should’ve been 1 and 4.”

“Let’s be honest. When we saw that LeBron was going to Miami with D Wade and Chris Bosh, did you not think they would run the table? It was like, that team, nobody can beat them. They should’ve been 1-4, they skated with 2-4 but they probably should’ve won 3 out of 4.”
At this point, you kind of just have to tip your cap to his willingness to stick to the bit. He’s leaning into it.
Of course, it makes more sense when you realize that Pierce doesn’t actually like James and that it stems from him actually spitting at the Cavs bench.
Pierce admitted to that incident, too, by the way.
"I'm glad social media wasn't out then because I spit at they bench. I probably would've got fined." @paulpierce34 confirms @KendrickPerkins' story that him spitting toward the Cavs bench started his beef with LeBron. pic.twitter.com/k1DbLKhcQq

Ah, the 2008 Celtics, y’all. May they continue to troll us forever and ever.
