Paul George gives thoughts on Sixers rookie Jared McCain’s readiness

Paul George gives thoughts on Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain’s readiness for the NBA.

Before the Philadelphia 76ers made their big move in free agency by bringing in Paul George, they had to tackle the draft and added a couple of solid youngsters.

One player who’s drawing a lot of attention is Jared McCain who Philadelphia selected with the No. 16 pick in Round 1 of the draft. He shot 41.4% from deep on 5.8 attempts per night as a freshman at Duke and should have that skill translate right away.

McCain also has a huge social media following. He has a big presence on TikTok and makes a lot of dance videos on his account which has over 3.3 million followers. He is going to draw a lot of attention at times and some wonder if he’s ready for the NBA when considering his time on social media.

George hopped on “Podcast P with Paul George” and gave his thoughts on McCain’s NBA readiness:

I think he’s played on—like, Duke is a major platform as it is. I think he’s seen and played–obviously, the NBA is another level, but he’s played at that level that he would get any type of scrutiny and how does that affect him in any type of way already. Personality stands out more than anything. He’s got a personality that, like, ‘I’m me. Ima do me. I’m me.’ The fact that he don’t give a (expletive) that he paints his nails and what people say about that and he can still be himself and go hoop? You can call him anything at that point!

McCain will need some time to develop before he can become a regular rotation player, but the young guard has a bright future. Despite the social media presence and everything that comes with that, he is continuing to work on his game and improve as a player.
