Paul Finebaum weighs in on Jimbo Fisher, Bobby Petrino play-calling dispute

In a recent radio interview, Paul Finebaum tells Aggie fans not to worry about the play-calling transition between Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Petrino.

Texas A&M is in its second week of spring football practice, and for fans focused on observing how most of the roster will shake out ahead of the April 15th Maroon and White Spring game, we’re doing our best day-to-day to provide you with every possible update.

Now, for those who are still hung up on head coach Jimbo Fisher’s cryptic comment During last Monday’s press conference regarding new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s role in calling plays next season, college football analyst and SEC Network host Paul Finebaum’s here to inform you that the sky is in fact, not falling.

During a radio interview on WJOX 94.5 FM in Birmingham, Alabama, Finebaum discussed the hot topic and provided one of the best explanations he could to ease fans into trusting Bobby Petrino’s offensive play-calling background in 2023, no matter how hard it is for Fisher to pass the torch:

“You cannot judge Jimbo Fisher by the way he articulates his press conferences,” Finebaum stated. “… I think what he’s done with Bobby Petrino will work. I think it will be difficult for Jimbo between now and maybe the season to work through it. But those are workable problems. He knows how good Petrino is. It will be difficult for him, and you saw that. But I’d much rather him make a mistake in late March than November. This A&M team is good enough to overcome bad press conferences. Last year, they weren’t, but that was a confluence of a lot of bad things going on. But write your columns and write your tweets. In the end, I don’t think it will make one bit of a difference.”

We at Aggies Wire will continue providing the facts and leaving personal emotion out of any topic relating to play-calling between Fisher and Petrino because until September rolls around, we’re simply living in a giant continuous exhibition that will only tell us so much about how the 2023 season will pan out. As always, Gig ‘Em, and BTHO the off-season.
