During a conference call with media yesterday Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst expressed his belief that sometime in June the players will be able to be on campus and attend in-person workouts.
“It looks like some point in June, players will be able to come back,” Chryst said.
This is a shared sentiment across the Big Ten as they do not expect to begin workouts on June 1, the date the NCAA said players can begin to return.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal’s Colten Bartholomew Chryst said the first phase will likely be groups of 10 people or less and start in the weight room. They would then increase the numbers and activities if all goes well.
This press conference was followed by a tweet by Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel explaining the likely timeline for the preseason and where the NCAA is in terms of sending out a formal schedule.
Sources: The NCAA football oversight committee met today. They are heading toward recommending a six-week preseason football camp model for this season. In the next week, they’re going to determine in the granular what that could look like before formally recommending it.

While this situation may negatively affect many teams and programs, Chryst expressed in his call that he is welcoming the challenge and will listen to whatever the NCAA says and make the most of it for the Badgers.
Paul Chryst: Leading the #Badgers through the uncertainty of this summer/fall "is something that I get energy from." Believes it's a coach's job to take the rules/situation given and make the most of it for his team.
