Patterson on Pitts’ big game: ‘We want it to happen every week’

“Like coach always say, he expects stuff like that from Kyle, and we do too,” said Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson.

Cordarrelle Patterson and Mike Davis played key roles in the Falcons’ Week 5 win over the Jets. Patterson was once again effective on the ground and in the passing game (114 total yards), while Davis punched the ball in from the goal line to seal the win in the fourth quarter. However, neither player was as impactful as rookie tight end Kyle Pitts.

The Falcons made Pitts the highest tight end ever selected when they drafted him fourth overall, but up until Sunday, he had yet to really have that breakout game to validate his draft status. Finally in Week 5, Pitts showed his true value by going for 119 yards on nine receptions and scoring his first NFL touchdown.

Patterson praised the rookie after the game.

“Like coach always say, he expects stuff like that from Kyle, and we do too,” said Patterson. “He’s the fourth overall pick, there’s nothing shy about that. He’s got every asset, he’s got good speed, hands, routes. When stuff like that happens to Kyle, we want it to happen every week.”
