Patriots Week 5 injury report: Veteran WR added on Wednesday

Veteran wideout K.J. Osborn joins a long list of injured Patriots players

Whatever is left of the New England Patriots was back on the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for Sunday’s divisional clash with the Miami Dolphins.

The injury bug has bitten the team hard. They’ve lost a team captain in back-to-back weeks. First, it was linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley going down with a torn pec, and now, the team is dealing with the devastating news that longtime center David Andrews is expected to undergo surgery for a season-ending shoulder injury.

On Wednesday, there were 15 names in total on the injury report, including veteran wide receiver K.J. Osborn, who did not practice.

Here’s the first full injury report for the Patriots in Week 5:

Bourne, Mapu and Takitaki all returned after spending the first four weeks of the season on the PUP list. Patriots coach Jerod Mayo didn’t rule out the possibility they could be ready to play as soon as Sunday.

“I wouldn’t say it’s unrealistic,” Mayo said on Wednesday. “We have to see how the next couple of days go.”
