The New England Patriots held practice on their usual rest day on Tuesday, ahead of Saturday’s home game against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers.
It was a move made to ensure players got Christmas Day off to be with their families. There were three players listed as non-participants at the practice, including center Ben Brown, safety Kyle Dugger and cornerback Marcus Jones.
Jones missed the Week 16 game against the Buffalo Bills with a hip injury. So it would seem as if his availability for the Week 17 matchup could be in question as well.
However, the bigger concern for the Patriots is Brown, who is currently in concussion protocol. His potential absence would create a major problem along the offensive front. The Patriots dealt with snapping issues after losing starter David Andrews for the season, but things finally settled down with Brown stepping into the starting role.
With the game being on Saturday, that’s one less day for Brown to recover from his head injury.
Here’s the full injury report for the Patriots on Tuesday:
Did not participate
C Ben Brown, Concussion
S Kyle Dugger, Ankle / Quad
CB Marcus Jones, Hip
Limited participation
LB Curtis Jacobs, Concussion
S Jabrill Peppers, Hamstring
OL Cole Strange, Knee
LB Jahlani Tavai, Groin
OT Caedan Wallace, Ankle
Thursday’s report should give a better idea of where the Patriots stand on the injury front ahead of Saturday’s game.
