The New England Patriots may have two more games on their schedule, but their season is effectively over. They are out of playoff contention, with a 22-12 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 15. Bill Belichick has made the playoffs in all but four of his 21 as the Patriots coach.
New England’s defense opened their matchup against the Dolphins with a very impressive game plan, but the second half spun out of the Patriots’ control, with Miami focusing on its rushing attack. They surged with 22 second-half points while amassing 42 carries for 250 yards and three rushing touchdowns on the game. Quarterback Cam Newton and the Patriots offense never got much going, relying upon four field goal to put points on the board. And Miami’s offense put the game out of reach.
