Did we step into a time machine?
That would seem like the case when watching the New England Patriots bench their starting quarterback, Mac Jones, for backup Bailey Zappe.
A historically bad first half in the Bill Belichick era sparked the move in the third quarter. Jones was 12-of-21 with two interceptions, including a pick-six, and a lost fumble. That forced Belichick to turn to the same quarterback he cut before the start of the season.
There was a report out initially that Zappe struggled to pick up the offense, and the team was looking to replace him with a veteran quarterback option. Now, he’s once again a starter for a Patriots team with more questions than answers on offense.
