The New England Patriots requested permission to speak with Minnesota Vikings wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell for their offensive coordinator position, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
McCardell was the wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-2020, before taking the same position with the Minnesota Vikings. He played in the NFL from 1991-2007 and had over 11,000 career receiving yards.
The Patriots announced last week they would start conducting an offensive coordinator search this week . Several names have been connected to the job, including Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.

McCardell would be an intriguing choice with the New England offense looking to improve. His work with wideouts in previous stops could help the organization with improved receiver play desperately needed for the 2023 season.
