The New England Patriots announced they released wide receiver John Jiles from the practice squad on Tuesday.
Jiles was signed to the practice squad last week, as New England looked to add more depth to the roster. So it was a short stay for the former collegiate standout at West Florida.
Jiles had a stellar career at the collegiate level, starting in all 12 games and recording 1,255 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in his 2023 run at West Florida. He was originally signed by the New York Giants as a free agent in May and then released by the organization in August.

The Patriots have multiple positions that need addressing, even more than the wide receiver position at this point. They have been ravaged by injuries this season, and they’re desperately trying to fill roster holes.
They’ll be looking to get back on track in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins after dropping three straight losses.
