New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson was fined $11,255 for an unnecessary roughness penalty.
The penalty occurred during last Thursday’s game against the New York Jets. Stevenson broke free for a run in the second quarter, and he was chased down by Jets linebacker Chazz Surratt. While attempting to utilize a stiff arm, Stevenson drew a penalty flag when his hand got caught in Surratt’s facemask.
The penalty negated the best run of the night for the Patriots. It was a game where the typically run-heavy New England offense only had 15 carries for 78 total rushing yards. They were ultimately defeated in a lopsided 24-3 loss to the Jets.

The Patriots will need to do a better job of avoiding similar penalties in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Patriots Wire’s Cam Garrity breaks it all down in his five keys to victory for the Patriots in Week 4.
