Patriots legend reverses course on initial opinion of Drake Maye

Rodney Harrison admits Drake Maye is better than he initially thought

Former New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is reversing course when it comes to his opinion of Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

Harrison wasn’t previously high on the quarterback, saying there was ‘no way’  he would spend the No. 3 overall pick on Maye leading up to the 2024 NFL draft.

Understandably, there was a lot of hesitancy in selecting a quarterback with the third overall selection. Nevertheless, Maye has proven to be a solid quarterback option and a legitimate building block for the future of the organization.

“The first thing is that I’ve seen some things from Drake Maye that have surprised me. He’s better than I anticipated,” Harrison said, via ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “I like the kid’s personality. I like his demeanor. He has this quiet competitiveness about him. He’s a lot better athlete than I thought.”

Maye has impressed many this season with his ability to do more with less. We’ll see if he can continue to drive that point home in the last four remaining games on the regular season schedule.
