The New England Patriots drafted Michigan guard Michael Onwenu with the 182nd overall pick in the sixth round. The organization had met with him virtually prior to the draft, so there was an initial connection. Onnwenu should help the Patriots bolster their offensive line as they look to undergo a new era at quarterback.
Whether they are a run-first or pass-first team, adding Onwenu is a definite plus. For the Patriots, this marks their second Michigan player taken in this draft and the third Michigan player taken in the last two years. Fans were certainly optimistic about the draft pick on Twitter.
congrats to our guy michael onwenu for getting drafted by the patriots! we loved him at @DowntownRams, patriots are getting a beast in @_MXKEY đ¤

Still a few picks left to change this, but I think Michael Onwenu was the best value pick for New England

So new #Patriots OG Michael Onwenu:
-Played offense and defense his freshman year
-Has experience in a pro and spread offense
-Loves OL bc it involves physicality than other offensive positions
-Was a Michigan Wolverine pic.twitter.com/ZCkRdJgVD9

Didn't get to a full report on Michael Onwenu but was on the radar. Huge guard prospect at 6-2, 344 with NFL power and strength at the point of attack. Good anchor in pass pro, can't go through him. Some draftnicks were very high on Onwenu. #Patriots

Measuring in at six-foot-three, 375 pounds, he will certainly be a stabilizing force. The Patriots have prided themselves on having a good offensive line. He will be able to help add to that.
Patriots draft Justin Herron
The Patriots also drafted Wake Forest guard Justin Herron. Here are some of the best fan reactions on Twitter.
Justin Herron @Patriots drafted Tackle out of @WakeFB would be much higher draft pick if not for knee injury. Guys a MAULER. Love the pick up by the pats this late.

Got to watch left tackle Justin Herron in person against BC. Heâs a guard. Good lateral movement. Smart, high I.Q football player.

Another OL at #195 for the Patriots. This time, itâs a tackle: Justin Herron from Wake Forest.
Decent value at this pick, and definitely provides some injury insurance for Isaiah Wynn + Marcus Cannon. #NFLDraft

Fun fact:
Guard Justin Herron broke the Wake Forrest school record for most games started in a career (51).
