A decision on the fate of New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick isn’t expected to come on Black Monday, per NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see things drag out given the complicated nature of the situation. On Monday, Belichick spoke to the media like he planned on remaining with the Patriots in 2024, and he even noted that he was still under contract.
Yet, perhaps the biggest surprise from his end-of-season press conference was the fact that he claimed he’d be willing to give up his general manager role to stay in New England. Would any of that be enough to influence Kraft’s decision?
Or, is it simply a case of Kraft not wanting to fire the greatest coach in NFL history on Black Monday?

Last week, the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin noted the Belichick and Kraft talks “could take weeks”.
Buckle up, Patriots fans. This roller coaster ride could take awhile.
