Patriots coach Jerod Mayo shares update on injured S Kyle Dugger

This is good news for the Patriots

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo gave an update on safety Kyle Dugger’s ankle injury.

Dugger has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears after missing practice the entire week. The injury has been nagging the veteran safety for multiple weeks, but according to Mayo, it isn’t expected to keep him out for the season.

“He’ll be back this year, for sure,” Mayo told media members, when fielding a question on Dugger.

Dugger has been an integral part of the Patriots’ defense since arriving in New England. He has recorded 378 tackles, 22 pass deflections, three forced fumbles and nine interceptions in five seasons.

In six games this season, he has 35 combined tackles, two pass deflections and one forced fumble.

Dugger’s eventual return could be a huge lift for the defense. The Patriots are currently missing both starting safeties with Jabrill Peppers still on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.
