New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo didn’t watch all of “The Roast of Tom Brady” Netflix special. When speaking with reporters, he said he turned it on for a bit and then turned it right back off.
The roast garnered strong reviews, despite the awkward reunion between former Patriots coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft. Several former Patriots players and celebrities appeared on the dais, including Kevin Hart, Julian Edelman, Ben Affleck, Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss and others.
Mayo, who was Brady’s teammate from 2008-2015, felt like some of the jokes were a bit “too much”.
“No,” Mayo said, when asked if he watched “The Roast of Tom Brady”, via NESN’s Tim Crowley. “You know what, that’s a fib. I started off watching it. I’m going to be honest, we want to have transparency and honesty. I started off watching it, and then I was like, ‘I’m going to change the channel.’ …I think you guys will be nice to me if we win games, not watching Netflix.”
The roast certainly wasn’t for the faint of heart, as jokes were flying throughout the course of the night. It just went to show that nobody, not even the greatest quarterback of all time, is off limits.
