Patriots announce series of roster moves ahead of Chargers game

The Patriots made a series of roster moves, including placing CB Marcus Jones on IR and activating T Caedan Wallace to the 53-man roster

The New England Patriots announced they have placed cornerback Marcus Jones on injured reserve on Friday afternoon.

Jones had already been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers after also missing last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills due to a hip injury.

He was having a career year with 58 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, a fumble recovery and an interception. He has also managed to prove his worth on the offensive side of the football, as well as on special teams. The third-year cornerback/return man has a catch for 18 yards and a return average of 14.6 yards on punts.

Along with placing Jones on injured reserve, the Patriots announced they have activated rookie tackle Caedan Wallace to the 53-man roster. Wallace left the Patriots’ Week 4 game against the San Francisco 49ers due to an injury and was officially placed on injured reserve on October 4.

There’s hope that Wallace can become a key contributor along the offensive front for the Patriots in the future.

The team also announced that linebacker Monty Rice and wideout Alex Erickson were being elevated from the practice squad for Saturday’s game against the Chargers.
