Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson has long been known as one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks. His eight Pro Bowls in his first eight seasons and multiple first-team All-Pro selections are a testament to that.
However, he is coming off his worst season as a pro, missing six games to suspension and then playing poorly for much of the season.
The luster of his career as a top cover guy in the league is fading some. In fact, in a recent list of the 11 best cornerbacks in man coverage put together by Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, Peterson doesn’t even make the list.
Some familiar names show up like New England’s Stephon Gilmore and Buffalo’s Tre’Davious White.
Peterson enters a critical stage in his career. He will be 30 years old this season and is in the final year of his contract with the Cardinals. He wants to be a Hall of Famer. To do that, he will need to bounce back, have a great year and be a guy who would be on this list in a year from now.
