Over the course of his NFL career, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has rarely made a costly mistake. That has especially been the case this season with Mahomes’ 31 touchdowns to just two interceptions heading into Sunday.
But oh my, when he does make a mistake, it’s so glorious that you can’t really get mad about it.
Just look at what happened during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
With the Chiefs facing a third-and-12 in their own territory, Mahomes tried to evade the Dolphins pass rush by running extremely far in the wrong direction. The result was the Chiefs quarterback taking a 30-yard sack (!!!).

After all that, Mahomes just wasn’t able to outpace Jerome Baker who tripped him up at the three-yard line. That third-and-12 play suddenly became a fourth-and-42 punting situation from the end zone. It was the second-most yards lost on a sack in the past 20 years, according to Next Gen Stats.
The play was even more spectacular with The Dots — look at those routes.

Even Mahomes’ bad plays are memorable.
