Going into Monday night’s national championship game between Ohio State and Alabama many wondered if Crimson Tide star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle would be able to return from a fractured ankle and play against the Buckeyes.
Well, after a pregame workout/test he was put into the lineup for the first time since he suffered his injury against Tennessee in late October and was seen hobbling around the field and making plays – he had two catches for 28 yards midway through the third quarter.
Many NFL players, including Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, took to Twitter to ask Nick Saban to take Waddle out of the game because he was clearly hurting and his health is so darn important going into this year’s NFL draft, where he’s expected to be a high pick and make lots of money.
Respect the heart! But you can’t let that man be out there! https://t.co/QqaXYQ1EEX

Who advised 17 for Bama to play? Whoever it is definitely doesn’t have his best interest at heart. As a competitor, I understand why he would want to play, but no way he should be out there with the future he has ahead. I hope he can stay safe.
