We’re used to seeing Patrick Mahomes be the ever-cool customer on the field. As the NFL’s arguably best player, Mahomes has made his living on being impeccably creative with the ball in his hands and almost always keeping his cool — especially in tight, hotly-contested games.
During Mahomes and the Chiefs’ matchup with the Raiders (+7.5) on Monday night, something seemed to shift because Mahomes got angry.
After Travis Kelce scored a touchdown to give Kansas City a late third quarter 23-20 lead, the Raiders were penalized for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. It’s not clear what happened in that time to Mahomes — or after — but the superstar was visibly incensed and talking trash with someone as Andy Reid held him back on the sideline:

The NFL world was trying to make sense of what made Mahomes lose his cool at someone, but it wasn’t clear. While unconfirmed, it might have had something to do with Las Vegas pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who was going back and forth with Mahomes all evening:

Whatever happened, I wouldn’t advise Crosby (allegedly) to make Mahomes angrier. The quarterback strikes me as someone that, in the paraphrased words of another unstoppable offensive dynamo in sports, seems to take things personally. And he takes that out on his opponents.
Again, just a word of advice, though.
