After the Tennessee Titans steamrolled the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7, 27-3, quarterback Patrick Mahomes perfectly summed up how Sunday went for his team.
“You’re embarrassed. You got spanked pretty good,” Mahomes said. “You were coming in here trying to build off the momentum of the week before and we didn’t do that.”
The Titans’ defense was on point all afternoon. The pass-rush got consistent pressure, leading to four sacks and eight QB Hits on Mahomes, and several errant throws.
The coverage was exceptional in keeping the Chiefs’ air attack in check and not allowing big plays. Tennessee also notched three turnovers, two of which came from the superstar quarterback (one pick, one fumble).

When it was all said and done, Kansas City mustered up just 334 yards of total offense, and Mahomes threw for a season-low 206 yards.
It was the first time in Mahomes’ career that he was held to under 250 yards passing and no touchdowns. The three points were also the fewest the Chiefs have scored since Mahomes became the starter.

While the Chiefs go back to the drawing board and try to figure out how to right the ship after a 3-4 start, the Titans have staked their claim as one of the best, if not the best team in the AFC, and one of the best in the NFL.
Tennessee will look to keep the good times rolling when they travel to take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.
