Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are going to get used to championship parades

Patrick Mahomes is ready to own the AFC for years.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated their Super Bowl victory with a parade on Wednesday that had all the party vibes you’d expect if you hadn’t won a championship in 50 years.

It even had a police chase, which was a bit nuts.

But here’s the the thing – this could be something we see a lot of for years go come – Mahomes on parade floats waving to crowds of adoring Chiefs fans.

Because this kid seems to be ready to be the next Tom Brady.

Mahomes and Brady were both 24 years old when they won their first Super Bowls.

Like Brady, Mahomes will likely benefit from playing in a pretty blah division for years to come. The Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers might not be as bad as the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets have been during Brady’s run, but those AFC West franchises don’t exactly strike fear in opponents as of late.

Right now Mahomes is clearly the best quarterback in the league and will remain so for some time to come. This mic’d up video of the QB before Sunday’s game-winning TD is more proof of how great of a leader he is for this team.

Lamar Jackson had a phenomenal year in being named the league’s MVP this past season and should play the Peyton Manning to Mahomes’ Brady for years to come but right now – and for the foreseeable future – the AFC seems to be Mahomes’ conference.

The Chiefs will be the favorites to win the AFC next year and to repeat as Super Bowl champs. The experience they gained Sunday in coming back over the last 7 minutes of the game to win is only going to help this group.

Now Andy Reid no longer has to hear about not winning the Super Bowl. After 21 years he has his Lombardi Trophy and that should only free up “Big Red” to be a more successful coach, especially since he will have Mahomes running his offense for years to come.

Kansas City should be the NFL’s next dynasty. I know we’re just a few days removed from their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years, but it all starts with Mahomes, who is only going to get better, which is nuts.

Now the chase for Mahomes begins, and it feels like the competitive side of him is really going to love going after another ring, and then another ring after that, and probably many more after that.

He won’t even hit his prime for a few more years and he shouldn’t really be slowed down by anyone in the AFC during that time.

Patrick Mahomes has everything it takes to be the next legendary QB and it should be fun for all of us to watch.

Well, just not when he’s playing the teams we root for.

Because chances are that’s gonna get ugly for us.

LeBron James and the Lakers adding Derrick Rose is one move that could could go a long way in determining who will win the NBA title this year. The league’s trade deadline is today at 3 p.m. ET. Take a look at all the other moves we think should happen.
