Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain went on The Jim Rome Show last week to discuss new coach Sean Payton and the upcoming 2023 season.
Surtain said that Payton has quickly gelledg with the team’s players.
“Even though we’re just starting to get to know each other, it seems like we’ve known each other for a long time already,” Surtain said of his new coach. “We connect very well.”
Surtain said Payton is entertaining while also being “locked in” with the team.
“Sean, he just knows what it takes,” Surtain said of the Super Bowl-winning coach.
When asked where he wants to improve in 2023, Surtain said he can continue improving and mastering his technique. He also wants to continue growing as a leader.
“Even though I’m still young — you know, I’m in my third year — I think it’s that time where I just set apart myself and step into the leadership phase. You know, just be out there for the team, whether it’s leading by example or just leading vocally.”
Surtain, 23, is entering his third season with the Broncos. He has totaled 24 pass breakups and six interceptions over the last two years.
