Here are Pat Dooley’s six quick hits following Florida’s narrow win over the South Florida Bulls.

It was a strange way to win the game, but it certainly beats the alternative. A loss would have quickly put a damper on the Gators’ aspirations in Billy Napier’s debut campaign.

Instead, Florida found a path to win Saturday night against South Florida, and one day in the near future, we may look back on it as the game that got Florida bowl eligible.

But it was close to being a major disaster. So very close.

Fortunately, for the Gators, a bad hold on what would have been the tying field goal after a botched snap that pushed them back to the edge of field goal range allowed UF to escape with a 31-28 win in Napier’s third game as the Florida coach.
